How the Flex Series Works

The Bio200's Omni-O.2 combustion system and dual heat exchangers, step by step.

Flex Series Bio200 diagram showing ambient air intake, Omni-O.2 burn pot combustion, primary heat exchanger tubes, and secondary exchanger tubes to the chimney
1

Ambient Air Enters

Combustion air enters the rear of the stove through a PLC-controlled actuated damper.

2

Air Fuels Combustion

A negative draft fan draws combustion air through the Omni-O.2 burn pot, supporting both primary and secondary combustion.

3

Heat Is Recovered

The resulting super-heated air passes through a series of primary heat exchanger tubes and across the bottom of the boiler for substantial heat transfer.

4

Air Exits

Hot exhaust flows through a series of secondary exchanger tubes for additional thermal efficiency before the low-temperature gases exit through the Class-A chimney.

Why Choose a Flex Series Furnace?

Heat for Days, Not Hours

The large-capacity hopper and automated fuel feed can provide several days to weeks of heating between refills, depending on demand, fuel, and outdoor temperature.

Less Hands-On Heating

Automated fuel delivery and self-modulating airflow adjust to heating demand, cutting down on loading, monitoring, and manual adjustments.

Efficient, Cleaner Combustion

The Omni-O.2 combustion system distributes air around the fuel to support complete combustion and secondary gasification for cleaner-burning heat.

Convenience and Sustainability

Combines the efficiency and eco-friendliness of biomass heating with the ease and automation of a modern system.

Flexible Heating Capacity

Sized for residential heating, with enough capacity to extend heat to additional buildings or support select commercial applications.

Confidence for the Long Haul

USA-manufactured 409 Titanium Enhanced Stainless Steel construction, backed by a 20-year limited warranty.

Flex Series FAQ

Can the Flex Series replace an existing outdoor boiler?

Yes. The Bio200 can be set on a pad in multiple orientations, with floor knockouts on the sides and rear of the unit for flexible hookup.

How often does it need to be cleaned?

It's recommended to clean out the ashes weekly. Cleaning the heat exchanger tubes regularly also keeps efficiency up, and the unit ships with an assortment of cleaning tools.

Do I need glycol or antifreeze in the boiler?

No, it is not required. If you do use glycol, it should be a 35–40% mix of propylene glycol formulated for heating applications, along with Crown Royal's "Control" rust inhibitor.

What kind of wood pellets should I use?

Use top-quality, residential-grade A wood pellets with under 10% moisture content. The Flex Series can burn both softwood and hardwood pellets.

How long can it run before needing a refill?

Depending on fuel quality and heating load, a full hopper and augers can provide days to weeks of heat before you need to refuel.

Will I need to adjust the controls?

The Flex Series comes with a preset 180°F target and a 10-degree differential, and the self-modulating draft inducer and augers adjust airflow and feed rate automatically. Manual adjustments are only needed if lower-quality pellets are used.

What warranty comes with the Flex Series?

Every Flex Series furnace is backed by Crown Royal's 20-year limited warranty.

How is the Flex Series different from the Pristine and Multi Pass Series?

Flex is an automated pellet-fed system built to run for days between refills. Pristine is a gasification boiler for seasoned cordwood, and Multi Pass is a traditional triple-pass furnace built for coal.
