Water Treatment 101: Protecting Your Stainless Steel Boiler

A stainless steel outdoor wood boiler is built to last decades — but only if the water inside the system is properly treated. Untreated or poorly treated water leads to scale buildup, corrosion, and, over time, can void your manufacturer's warranty.

Why it matters: The water in your boiler's closed loop doesn't get replaced often, so whatever is dissolved in it — minerals, oxygen, bacteria — stays in contact with your stainless steel firebox and water jacket continuously. Over months and years, that adds up.

What proper treatment does: A quality boiler-water treatment chemical, like the Control Chemical we carry, inhibits corrosion and scale formation and helps keep the water chemistry in the range that's safe for stainless steel.
